Naya Khang Peak Climb

Naya Kanga Peak at 5844 metres is situated in the Langtang Region, to the north of Kathmandu valley between Langtang and Jugal Himal. A trek to the mountain top offers a varied range of experiences en route –  watch the beautiful valley of Langtang unfold, lush greenery, gushing rivers, alpine wilderness, picturesque Tamang villages, revered monasteries, and wide panoramic views of the Himalayas; all in all an all inclusive window to Nepal’s culture and the Himalayan beauty. Langtang region is also easily accessible, thus adding to its appeal.

Naya Khang Peak or Ganja La Chuli from the summit offers spectacular views of the surrounding Himalayas in Nepal and Tibet – Langshisha Ri (6,370m), Pemthang Ri (6,836m), Shisapangma (8,046m), Langtang Lirung (7,425m), Pemthang Kapro Ri( 6,830m) and Langtang II (6,571m). A wholesome experience, a trek to Naya Kanga Peak is an experience sought by amateur trekkers and professional amateurs.


Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival – Kathmandu

Be met by a Khempalung Adventure Trekking at TIA arrivals and be transferred and checked into assigned hotel.

Evening: Welcome dinner – indulge in a wide variety of Nepalese cuisine and enjoy a Nepalese cultural program along with.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing & Trek Preparation

Enjoy breakfast, followed by a guided our around Kathmandu Valley. Highlight: World Heritage Sites such as Swayambhunath Stupa, Durbar Squares.

Afternoon: Trek briefing, equipment check, and allow time for last minute purchases.

Day 03: Drive to Syabrubesi (1,550m): 145 kms/7 hrs

Enjoy breakfast and board the waiting vehicle to Syabrubesi – from where we begin our trek. A scenic and winding drive, we pass through terraced farms, small towns, and smaller villages. Lunch at an convenient place.

Check in at lodge in Syabrubesi and free to explore the remainder of the day.

Day 04:  Trek to Lama Hotel (2,380m)

Thus begins our journey, on foot. We follow a meandering trail through cool deciduous forests of oak and maple and climb through massive stands of spruce, fir, and blue pine. Cross the village of Thulosyabru and descend towards Langtang Khola. Cross the river and begin a gentle climb as the river gushes besides us.

Cross small villages and reach Lama Hotel – our stop for the night. The place’s name is owing to ‘Lama Hotel’, the first lodge to have opened here.

Day 05: Trek to Langtang Village (3,430m)

Post breakfast, we follow the trail beside the river and climb steeply through hemlocks, oaks, maples, rhododendron forest to the national park checkpoint at Ghora Tabela.

Lunch at Ghora Tabela, pass through cultivated lands and reach the end of the forest after an ascent. Here, the trail leaves the forest and we are presented with a spectacular view of Langtang Lirung.  (7,426m). Follow a gentle sloping path and in the distance Langtang village appears with Ganchempo (6387m) in the background. The village is an old Sherpa settlement, where houses are enclosed by stone walls.

Day 06: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m)

After breakfast, arrive at Chorten after a short climb. Observe the amazingly long Mani stone wall beside you. The valley widens to take a ‘U’ shape, walk further ahead, cross a wooden cantilever bridge over Langtang Khola, and we reach a wider valley scatter with large boulders. Our first views of the Kyanjin Gompa and the dramatic icefall flowing from Langtang Lirung and and Langtang Kinshung is a spectacle one will never forget.

Afternoon: Either rest or climb the northern flank of the Chair Pooch Peak (4,000m) to gain better vantage points of the Langtang Lirung and Ganesh Himal. The view of a pass which leads to Helambu can also be seen.

Day 07: Rest & Acclimatization

Before proceeding to any higher altitude, to avoid Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), it is essentially we let our bodies acclimatize. Explore the area: visit the monastery, cheese factory, or walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and tumbling glaciers. Ascend Kyangjin Ri (4,350m) and take in the breath taking panoramic views of Langtang Mountain range.

Day 08: Trek to Nyengang Kharka (Base Camp) (4430m)

Descend for 20 minutes, cross a suspension bridge over Langtang Khola and the follow the trail uphill to Nyengang Kharka. The trail has juniper shrubs on both sides and offers beautiful views of Langtang Lirung and its glacier.

Day 09: Trek to Naya Kanga High Camp (4,960m)

Steep ascent  for four hours along the rocky and icy glacier until you reach high camp. The remainder of the day can be spent enjoying views of surrounding majestic peaks – Langtang Lirung, Tserkori, Ganchenpo peak, Kibgyu Ri, Yansi Tsenji, to name a few.

Day 10: Rest at Naya Kanga High Camp

We allow another day for our bodies to acclimatize before proceeding for the final leg of our journey. The day will be utilized towards a few training exercises.

Day 11: Summit Naya Kanga Peak & back to Nyengang Kharka (Base Camp)

We start our day early as we make our way to the peak. A slow but gradual climb will lead us atop – from where we can catch unseen views of the surrounding mountain ranges. Watch unparalleled and unspoilt views of mountain peaks in Nepal and Tibet – Langshisha Ri (6,370m), Pemthang Ri (6,836m), Shisapangma (8,046m), Langtang Lirung (7,425m), Pemthang Kapro Ri( 6,830m) and Langtang II (6,571m).

Take a moment to cherish the accomplishment and allow the winds to enthrall your euphoric spirit before carefully retracing your steps back to the Base Camp.

Day 12: Trek to Kyangjin Gompa

We trace our footsteps back through the same path – bask in the joy of being in one of the most beautiful places in the world surrounded by 100% natural and pristine beauty.

Trek Duration: 4 hours.

 

Day 13: Trek to Lama Hotel

Pass through the beautiful valley and retrace our steps along the Langtang Khola to reach Lama Hotel – our rest stop for the night.

Day 14: Trek to Syabrubesi

It is our last days in the Himalayas – slow and steady footsteps with a certain sense of sorrow to be leaving paradise yet an exhilarating spirit of accomplishment sweeps us into a beautiful state of mind. Reach Syabrubesi.

Day 15:  Drive to Kathmandu

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast in the laps of the Himalayas and board a waiting vehicle which will transfer you to Kathmandu. Enjoy a scenic and winding drive to Kathmandu.

Day 17: Departure

Free to do last minute shopping for gifts/souvenirs. Transfer to TIA, Kathmandu.
